Website Design

Text

Text in website design is needed but too much & no-one will read it. Text needs to be easy to read, spaced well & clear. Ensure the content isn't ambiguous or muddy. Keep ideas clear & use easy-to-read fonts

Images

Relevance - Images in website design need to be there for a reason not just to have an image. Place images near to related text with descriptions. Attractive is a reason depending on the site's context; ie holiday sites, makeup, real estate

Resolution - Dense or large images in website design can slow the download of a webpage & result in the browser just closing the link. Too many images may slow the page download. Too many may overcrowd & confuse the browser. Ensure the images are discernible. Different screen sizes will cause issues with layout - BEWARE

Internal Linked Pages

Ensure the link relates to the linked page. Does the link require a separate page? Does the website design show a reason for having that link & is the reason clear? Does the page make sense?

External Linked Pages

Links to other sites should always open a new tab or page unless you're Google or you may lose the browser. In other words do not leave your own site to go to another site. Why is this link required? Is it really needed? Does it add something to your site & does it give the user something worthwhile? Give the user lots of worthwhile information but be careful about giving away focus secrets.

My Website Design

Firstly I need to know what it is you are selling or promoting & why. Why tells me what your major focus is & gives clues to the type of style of your website & how the design is changed by that. Without images, few will stay on the page so keep the text succinct & have some images to break up the text. Images should also give clues to what the page is about. Structure is important to make the page appeal to the browser's eyes. Colour needs to be relatively consistent & appropriate to what the cause is.
Within the website pages the title of that page needs to be clear & emphatically repeated throughout the page to instruct Google's webspiders to raise its focus for Search.
